What is Black Friday

Black Friday has traditionally been the Friday immediately after Thanksgiving when retailers begin the holiday shopping season. As of late Black Friday, has morphed into a Black Thursday since more and more retailers are looking are offering “early” Black Friday deals earlier (on Thanksgiving eve).  Essentially, Black Friday (Black Thursday in some cases) are based around the aforementioned “doorbusters” and offers discounts so impressive that bargain-crazed customers will camp outside of stores for hours and try to break the doors down before the shop opens. Thankfully we are seeing more a trend for virtual shopping, where you can cash in on some amazing deals from the comfort of your home.

When is Black Friday 2019?

In 2019, Black Friday will be on Friday 29th November 2019

How to Crush Black Friday like a Pro…

In order to get the best deals for Black Friday, preparation is key. Stores usually “leak” their Black Friday adds as early as October. Begin looking up various Black Friday specific websites like theBlackFriday.com.  This is my personal go-to site for the latest on deals for Black Friday. They typically have credible information and offer tools to help you organize your Black Friday Shopping List.

What are the Best Deals?

Traditionally, the focus of Black Friday tends to be on electronics. TVs, tablets, laptops and smartphones often reflect the deepest discounts and increasingly in the last year or two. Other items to consider include:
  1. Home goods
    • including coffeemakers, toasters, crockpots, stand mixers and sandwich makers container sets, dishes
  2. Home improvement gifts
    • including drill sets and power tools
  3. Gaming console bundles
  4. Movies
  5. Toys
  6. Footwear

What not to buy on Black Friday

  1. Clothing- Several retailers put out discounted clothing options for shoppers on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Shoppers will typically find the best clothes deals when shopping out of season. See my post here on scoring major deals at my favorite store Old Navy.
  2. Jewelry- while diamonds are a girl’s best friend, and make great Christmas gifts, these purchases should wait until after Valentine’s Day. That’s when you’ll typically see deep discounts as retailers look to clear out what didn’t sell throughout the winter months.
  3. Travel Deals- the bigger discounts on Cyber Monday from the same (and even competing) brands.
Happy Shopping Friends!
